This version of Bargle is from his mention in the Dungeon Master's Rulebook in the 1983 Red Box set. In it, he is said to be a magic-user of level 5-7.
Bargle later appears in the 2E boxed set Karameikos Kingdom of Adventure as a 17th-level magic-user.
