Tsathar are a race of froglike humanoids that dwell in fetid swamps or dark caverns deep beneath the earth. Those dwelling aboveground are nocturnal and rarely encountered during the day. Communities vary in size but each is usually led by a single priest. Each community worships a strange and terrifying demonic being known as Tsathogga, and often capture other humanoids to serve as sacrifices in their foul breeding pits.
Tsathar are sexless. Special breeders reproduce by implanting an egg into a host, which can be any form of living creature. Normally, creatures are captured or bred to serve as hosts-giant rats and giant frogs being the most common hosts. It is believed that only tsathar born of an egg implanted into a humanoid or other creature of great intelligence can become a priest or sorcerer.
A typical tsathar stands 6 feet tall and weighs about 300 pounds.
